Checking in with Sophie Robichaud

I definitely feel like I'm in my groove now. I feel like anyone I had a lot of anxiety going into it and it was just kind of the unknown but now that I've been seeing clients for a while I feel like I've really fallen into kind of my voice as a therapist and the way I do things and that has led to a lot more confidence and feeling Like I don't have that imposter syndrome as much anymore and seeing progress with my clients has also helped build that confidence. I like how honest it is and how fun it can be. I think that the rapport building is really important and I think that just seeing Teenagers or young children come in and be so open to the process of therapy is really refreshing. From my personal experience, I wish that I could have had that help at that age, and I think just dealing with it at a young age is so much more beneficial than processing it as we get older. With teenagers, I really like playing the un -game. just because that has so many different questions and ways that it could go and with younger kids I like to paint. I feel like it's been the clients where At first, I didn't feel a huge connection and I was really working hard to build that rapport and just seeing the changes that have come in the past couple months and the shift, I think that's kind of the most rewarding, is kind of just seeing the transition happen in front of me.

Sophia Robichaud doesn’t do interviews often. Not because she’s a diva-therapist (we know you were thinking it), but because she really dislikes being on camera. So when she agreed to a “checking in” session, we knew she must hold our documentary film making skills in high esteem. We asked about her experience as a therapist trainee at Child & Teen Counseling—and, despite her aversion to interviews, we didn’t hold back on the hard-hitting questions. See how she handled the pressure in this exclusive tell-all!
